Counsel General and Minister for Delivery Visit to Canada

The Counsel General and Minister for Delivery joined a Welsh delegation to Ottawa and New Brunswick to explore bilingual legislation, justice, and governance. The delegation was also made up of two Welsh judges, the Welsh Language Commissioner, and the Welsh Government’s First Legislative Counsel and Director of Legal Services. The delegation attended meetings in Ottawa with the Canadian Office of the Legislative Counsel, the Federal Court and the University of Ottawa Law School, as well as being hosted on a visit to the Supreme Court by the Registrar of the Court. The CG&MfD also attended a meeting with senior officials from the Privy Counsel’s Office. Similar meetings took place in New Brunswick with a series of meetings organised by the Provincial Government and the Chief Justice.

  

Attendance at the Celtic Forum, Glasgow

The Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning represented Wales at the Celtic Forum in Glasgow. The Forum explores practical opportunities for strengthening cooperation across the Celtic regions, and was attended by representatives from Scotland, Ireland, Brittany, Galicia, Cornwall, Isle of Man. The Cabinet Secretary also used the opportunity to hold a separate bilateral with the Regional President and Vice President of Brittany to discuss Renewable Energy, Cyber Security and St David’s Day celebrations. Reception at the Japanese Embassy, London

The Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning attended a reception at the Embassy of Japan in celebration of the Emperor of Japan's birthday, hosted by the Japanese Ambassador to the UK. Attendance allowed for legacy discussions and activity following the Year of Wales and Japan 2025 which received significant engagement and support from Ambassador Suzuki and his team.
